Tested sustainability: ‘DIN-Geprüft biobased’ certificate for C-Cycle from MAWA

The MAWA C-Cycle clothes hanger sets new standards in terms of sustainability

Despite a variety of crises and challenges, protecting the environment and climate remains a priority for many people in Germany. In the latest study by the Federal Environment Agency on environmental awareness in Germany, a majority of respondents (57 per cent) again stated that they consider the topic to be very important. In particular, 91 per cent are in favour of restructuring the German economy according to ecological criteria. This is why more and more companies are focussing on environmentally friendly products and sustainable production. However, some are also making themselves look greener than they really are, which is why the topic of greenwashing is increasingly being discussed and end consumers increasingly want transparent and objective labelling - for example for the use of resource-saving, bio-based raw materials. In this context, certificates from recognised institutes are playing an increasingly important role. For our MAWA C-Cycle hanger, we have therefore opted for the ‘biobased’ seal from the TÜV certification body DIN CERTCO. It indicates that products with the internationally recognised test mark are made from biomass, i.e. renewable organic raw materials.

DIN-approved labelling for the MAWA C-Cycle

The MAWA C-Cycle bears the DIN-Geprüft mark for products made from over 85 per cent biogenic materials. This means that consumers know at first glance that they are choosing a sustainable clothes hanger made from natural fibres. The clothes hanger is made from natural fibres and plant-based recycling residues that are no longer relevant for food or animal feed, thus preserving the plant-based CO2 reservoir for climate protection.

A circular economy in which materials can be reused or recycled is of great importance for the manufacture of sustainable products. The most important building block for this is the use of biogenic, i.e. organic materials - as in the case of the C-Cycle clothes hanger. - Michaela Schenk, CEO
